SR CLAUDIO TORRES

Sr Claudio Torres’ vineyard is called Fundo San Antonio (Fundo means farm).  He moved there with his family in 1991.  His two sons work on the Fundo with him and his wife. He has been a co-operative member of Covica Ltda since 1988, from his old farm before he moved to Fundo San Antonio. He grows Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Moscatel.   Moscatel is the least successful variety in the vineyard, and Don Claudio is replacing these vines over time, replacing them with Cabernet Sauvignon.

He has a total of 7 hectares (17.5 acres) under vine on his farm of 110 hectares, which also includes olives and wheat.  He also breeds working horses.

"Any benefit that is procured nowadays for us is important, especially for the existing prices. Also of great benefit to us is the technical vineyard advice, from grafting to what varieties might better suit our vineyard conditions, to help us improve the quality of our grapes.”
