COVICA
Cooperativa Agricola Vitivinicola de Cauquenes Ltda (COVICA)  - better known as Viňa Lomas de Cauquenes – was started up in 1939, following a devastating earthquake that destroyed most of the wine cellars owned by local wine growers.  Since the first vintage in 1940 the co-operative has expanded to become the biggest single employer in the Cauquenes region.Nowadays the winery plant is at the cutting edge of winemaking technology, with state-of-the-art winemaking equipment as well as traditional barrels, and extensive bottling facilities.  Its cellars currently house 24m litres of wine.

The COVICA co-operative has 240 member growers producing from 2,527 ha of vineyards located within 50 kms north, 25 kms east, 25 kms south and 20 kms west of Cauquenes.

As well as
EQUALITY , COVICA produces the Las Lomas range of wines, including an organic range of varietal wines, which are exported around the world.

In October 2005, COVICA was granted Fairtrade status, marking a milestone in its history.  UK agent for the Las Lomas range, Nicholas Ingham worked extensively with the team at COVICA to produce a new, dedicated Fairtrade brand: Equality, whose first range was launched in the UK market in 2006.
